Anna Bacon MA Cantab

Matthew: June 2020

"5* Highly recommended!

Anna is the "real deal"… the perfect mix of enthusiasm, encouragement and attention to detail combined with just the right amount of firmness (with both pupil and parent!). Every lesson is packed with careful feedback and new content. Her comprehensive practice notes have been invaluable in ensuring my son's practice is productive. I have been amazed at her commitment to support my son during the Covid-19 lockdown, continuing lessons on Skype and providing email / text feedback in between lessons. Were it not for Anna, my son would not be enjoying his violin as much as he is or making such great progress."

Ben is very pleased to collaborate with Anna Bacon MA Cantab to offer violin lessons both online and in person. Anna's biography can be found below. You can book a lesson and read more testimonials by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.

Anna writes: "I was born in London, studied at the Royal College of Music and Cambridge University obtaining an MA Honours (too many years ago to mention!). My passion has been music and I have been teaching (violin, piano and music theory) for many years to children aged 4-17 as well as adults. Several of my pupils have been awarded Music Scholarships to top independent schools (including Westminster School, Winchester College, Westminster Under School) and places in the National Children’s Orchestra of GB (NCOGB). I have successfully prepared pupils for their ABRSM exams with my pupils being awarded Distinction. Many of my students are international living overseas and for these I am able to offer online tuition (Skype or Zoom).

I have tutored the Violin section of the National Children’s Orchestras of GB, helping during monthly rehearsals and preparing the children for their concerts. Many of the parents have been extremely grateful for the support and guidance I have provided to their children. I was also Senior Violin Tutor at Chelsea Quavers Music School in London.

I sing with the Westminster Choral Society and perform at venues such as the Barbican, Royal Albert Hall, St. John's Smith Square and Westminster Abbey. I attend Master classes at the Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music since I believe learning is a life-long journey.

I have 2 teenage boys of my own, whom I teach violin and therefore appreciate the needs of both children and parents in today’s challenging environment. I am passionate about music and believe music can be enjoyed by all children (and adults) no matter what their ability level is.
